Living riverside in Luang Prabang
By Mayer Julien1 min readJune 2, 2026
Luang Prabang moves at the pace of the river. Mornings begin with the alms procession and mist on the water; the day softens into golden light on teak shutters and frangipani.
A home with provenance
The town's protected Franco-Lao villas are among the most characterful homes in the region. Owning one means stepping into a UNESCO-listed streetscape, a few minutes from the night market and the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan.

It is a rare kind of luxury: not loud, but deeply rooted in place. The kind that holds its value precisely because it cannot be replicated.
